| These are increasingly more desirable. Some collectors prefer to proudly showcase their coins in archival folders, while others prefer air-tight capsules, or mylar-lined 2x2's. Whatever you do, do not store yours in the PVC flips you frequently see on the marketplace. These are comprised of polyvinyl chloride which decomposes over time and destroys the coin it was to protect. Should you buy coins already in one of these, transfer it as quickly as possible to something better. You may consider acetate flips, but realize that these are brittle and may scratch the piece if isn't placed and removed with care. While they aren't air-tight, they are adequate choices for medium value coins that will be "left alone" for many years. |
